Über den Job:

The Institute for Market Analysis of the Johann Heinrich von Thünen Institute, Federal Research Institute for Rural Areas, Forestry and Fisheries, in Braunschweig is offering a position is looking for 01.11.2025 limited until 30.11.2026 a **Researcher (f/m/d) CarbonLeak** full-time (currently 39 hours/week) to support the area of „CarbonLeak“.

The BMLEH-funded Carbon Leak project brings together scientists from different disciplines and is being carried out by the Thünen Institutes of Forestry and Market Analysis. It analyses the effects of German and European climate protection measures on global agricultural and timber markets.

The increased requirements for the emissions balance of the land use, land use change and forestry (LULUCF) sector adopted in the German Climate Protection Act may lead to a significant reduction in logging and agricultural production in Germany. Such changes can be expected to have considerable market effects, such as a price-related decline in the use of wood or increased imports. In addition, this can lead to a shift in timber harvesting and agricultural production to third countries (leakage/spillover effects). In the work package ‘Modelling the effects of environmental and climate measures on shifts of production and trade in the agricultural sector’, the effects of climate measures in the agricultural and timber sector on agricultural production, land use and emissions are to be analysed.
