RESEARCH ASSISTANT (POSTDOC)
IN CELL BIOLOGY / BIOCHEMISTRY (M/F/D)

The Department of Biochemistry investigates the molecular mechanisms of signal transduction and cellular transport of membrane proteins. We use photoreceptors in the compound eye of the fruit fly Drosophila as a model system for our research. In addition to the components of signal reception and signal transmission, we are interested in TRP ion channels that generate the receptor potential.
Your tasks will include working on a research project on the cellular transport of photoreceptor proteins. In the medium term, you should develop an independent research profile. In teaching, you will participate in modules offered by our department in the bachelor's degree courses in biology and agricultural biology, in the master's degree course in biology and food biotechnology, and in doctoral programs. The scope of teaching is 4 hours per week.
We expect:
- Completed studies and doctorate or comparable achievement in biology, biochemistry, biotechnology or a related subject in the field of life sciences;
- Experience in immunocytochemistry and Drosophila genetics;
- Experience with biochemical methods (e.g. western blot, chromatography, immunoprecipitation);
- Experience in using biological databases (e.g. NCBI, EMBL, Flybase);
- Experience with molecular biological methods (e.g. PCR, gene cloning)
- Experience in electrophysiology is an advantage;
- Enthusiasm for research and high self-motivation;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills (German and English).
The position is available for 3 years and is subject to the “Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz-. Payment is based on qualifications according to the tariff law of the state of Baden-Württemberg at level E13.
