The Faculty of Process and Systems Engineering seeks to fill the following vacancy at the Institute of Apparatus Design and Environmental Engineering: # Research Associate / PostDoc (m/f/d) in the field of heat engineering Salary scale: **13 TV-L** Date commencing: 01.07.2025 Fixed term (until): **31.12.2027** Contract status: **100 %** We are a university with a focus on engineering and natural sciences as well as economics, human sciences and medicine. The institute for Apparatus Design and Environmental Technology (IAUT) is currently conducting a third-party funded project on a self-sustaining power-to-power process using a cryogenic enthalpy storage. The successful candidate for the offered position is expected to take the scientific leadership in this project and will be in charge of the project management and reporting. ## Job description: - design of a thermodynamic process covering liquefaction, subsequent storage, on-demand re-gasification and expansion of a working fluid. - layout and design of a plant to materialize the process, creation of a digital twin of the plant - management of the project - publication of project results in scientific journals and presentation at conferences etc. - supervision of student’s graduation thesis - participation in other scientific activities of IAUT ## Requirements profile: - master degree (or equivalent) in heat engineering, thermodynamics, energy engineering, process engineering or a closely related subject - PhD in a subject related to the project - preferably, experiences with thermodynamics or process simulation software - good German language skills (B2 level) - good English language skills (B2 level) ## Your benefits: - You can expect challenging tasks with significant freedom to organize them. - You have the opportunity for scientific qualification and are supported and promoted accordingly. - Our collaboration is characterized by an open culture of communication and leadership, in which discussions are held at eye level and new ideas are welcome. - The project offers the potential to direct it towards a start-up business.
