The Plasma Redox Effects research group is looking for the following person to join the “Target-H” project at the Greifswald site as soon as possible: DOCTORAL CANDIDATE (f/m/d) Skin cancer plasma source development and diagnostics in matter interaction (initially) limited to 45 months / Weekly working time 26 hours / Remuneration according to TV-L remuneration group 13 (gross salary range depending on professional experience, see remuneration table 2025) Diagnostics of plasma sources in gas, liquid, and gel phases (via, e.g., spectroscopy); Investigation of plasma treatment-target interactions and interdependencies through physical-chemical parameters (e.g., leakage current, UV, reactive species generation, temperature); Accompanying development of a cold plasma technology optimized for skin cancer treatment; Supporting the definition of QC criteria for production and operation of the source; 3D printing and development of new or improvement of existing laboratory analysis methods, also with biological-biochemical methods such as tissue replacement, for a better understanding of the relevant active components of plasma; Analyzing, interpreting, and presenting collected data and contributing to the preparation of scientific publications. Completed University degree in Natural Sciences (Master of Science or equivalent) in physics, biophysics, (bio)engineering, electrical engineering, (bio)chemistry or a related field High affinity to numbers and mathemathics as well as a strong logical understanding Strong interest in various analytical disciplines in the investigation of plasma mechanisms in the context of interdisciplinary research Practical basic knowledge of analytical and physical process techniques High level of commitment, motivation, ability to work independently, teamwork skills, flexibility, sense of responsibility, reliability and problem-solving skills Very good knowledge of English (written and spoken) and preferably also German as well as computer skills International team that ranks among the world leaders in the scientific field of plasma medicine Compensation according to collective salary agreement of Länder (TV-L) including employer contributions to medical and dental insurance, maternity leave and retirement benefits Creative environment with technical facilities at the highest level Promotion tandem: Experienced and competent support during your doctorate Institute-internal training courses (e.g., project management, scientific writing, preparation of project proposals) Networking opportunities at national and international conferences and in cooperation with national and international industry partners Opportunities for external training Opportunities to contribute and develop your own project ideas Flexible working hours and possibility of home-office days A working environment certified as family-friendly In-house German course free of charge 30 vacation days per year (plus: December 24 and 31) Online Sports courses (“Moving break”) Staff kitchen
