An der Georg-August-Universität Göttingen Stiftung Öffentlichen Rechts – Abteilung für Bioklimatologie ist ab dem 01.05.2025 eine Stelle alsScientist (all genders welcome)- Entgeltgruppe 13 TV-L - in Vollzeit (teilzeitgeeignet) zu besetzen. Die Stelle ist permanent.The Bioclimatology group at the University of Göttingen investigates the exchange of greenhouse gases, matter, and energy between the forests and the atmosphere. The key method we use are eddy covariance flux towers. The successful candidate will be responsible for the scientific operation of the Bioclimatology group’s flux towers as research infrastructure. The candidate’s tasks include Scientific coordination of tower operations: coordination of technicians, data processing and analysis, quality assurance of data, and entry into international databases Scientific development of the flux towers by acquiring new measuring instruments through third-party funding applications, evaluating new measurement methods, and conducting and evaluating instrument comparisons Representation of the sites in national and international committees, such as the German network of ICOS and the European Monitoring Station Assembly (MSA) of ICOS as well as in Fluxnet Supervision of BSc, MSc and PhD theses Teaching (6 SWS) Qualifications you should have Completed Ph.D. in environmental science or related disciplines (meteorology, physics, geography, plant ecology, forestry, etc.) Research experience in eddy covariance flux measurements (required) Experience with data analysis in R, python, matlab, or other relevant programming languages (required) Scientific creativity shown by a track record of original and innovative research (required) Experience in supervising technical staff (required) Experience in teaching related to forest-atmosphere exchange processes in English and German (required) Driving license (required) Proficiency in English and German (required) The position is based in Göttingen, Germany.
