The Kiel Institute for the World Economy (IfW) seeks applications for a position as **Project Manager for a third-party funded research project** We are looking for a highly motivated Project Manager to coordinate and facilitate our research and policy project “**A new agenda for ODA in a contested, multipolar world**” in collaboration with and funded by the Gates Foundation. We are looking to fill a part-time position (50%) with the option of being based either at our headquarters in Kiel or our Research Hub in Berlin. The position is designed for individuals passionate about transformative research and policy advice who are eager to contribute to impactful, cutting-edge projects in the fields of economics, international development cooperation, and global public policy. This role presents a unique opportunity for project management professionals in related fields to gain valuable experience in science management, policy advice, and non-profit advocacy. As project manager, you will collaborate closely with the project team, including senior researchers from the Kiel Institute and experts from the Gates Foundation, playing a key role in supporting and facilitating their work. Key responsibilities will include: · Overseeing time and task management, ensuring adherence to project timelines and milestones · Organizing meetings, workshops, and high-level events · Proofreading and editing research papers, policy briefs, and other key communications · Writing reports · Managing correspondence with a diverse range of stakeholders, including researchers, policymakers, policy advisors, and media representatives · Conducting background research on topics related to the project, such as international development and official development aid · Coordinating project implementation in collaboration with teams from the Kiel Institute and the Gates Foundation, including their administrative departments · Handling various administrative tasks This position is ideal for individuals looking to expand their expertise in managing projects and programs in an international environment at the intersection of research, policy, and advocacy. We are seeking candidates who meet the following qualifications: · Master’s degree in a relevant field · Experience with collaborative, interdisciplinary & multi-phase projects involving multiple stakeholders · Experience preparing academic papers and research reports for publication · Experience working closely with high-level academics or policymakers; understanding of their priorities, schedules, and networks · Understanding of non-profit organizations; experience working within organizations focused on academic research and research-based policy advocacy · Experience organizing workshops and similar events both online and in-person · Familiarity with the challenges of communications around research and policy; understanding of the need for strong narrative threads, utilization of networks and multiple channels of communication · Proficiency in English and German (C1 level) · Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, including the ability to draft, proofread and edit complex texts · Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work to strict deadlines · Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team · Excellent problem-solving abilities and solution-oriented thinking · Attention to detail and commitment to deliver high-quality results The position offers competitive compensation in line with the German public sector pay scale (grade EG 13 TV-L). The contract will be for a period of two years, with a planned start in March 2025.
