This role will focus on supporting the delivery of the 2028 sustainability strategy for sustainable materials, animal welfare and circular products. The main objective is to drive the delivery of C&A’s sustainable materials and circularity roadmap, aligning company-wide goals and annual KPIs, with a focus on implementing initiatives that support sustainable materials and circular economy objectives, while assisting sourcing and buying teams in developing more sustainable products. In partnership with merchandising and sourcing, you will oversee the adoption of sustainable raw materials, including recycled and organic fibres, supporting efforts for traceability within the supply chain.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the integration of circular economy principles into product design, focusing on recyclability, reuse, and lifecycle optimisation
  • Train and guide buying, sourcing, and product teams to adopt sustainable practices, ensuring these principles are part of daily decision-making
  • Act as a key resource for internal teams, providing expertise on material sustainability, circularity, and best practices
  • Collaborate with design, sourcing, and product development teams to develop products with Cradle-to-Cradle certifications and other selected sustainability standards
  • Drive alignment across departments to meet sustainability KPIs, ensuring goals are understood and prioritised
  • Facilitate support for the implementation of European regulations such as the Digital Product Passport (DPP), Eco-Design for Sustainable Products Regulation, among other, in partnership with internal stakeholders
  • Collaborate with product and supply chain teams to incorporate regulatory requirements into material choices, product design, labelling, and lifecycle management
  • Monitor and report progress on material sustainability, using lifecycle assessment tools and data to inform decisions, while contributing to external reporting, audits, and certifications
  • Ensure the accuracy and legitimacy of product-related sustainability claims in consumer-facing communications by working closely with legal, marketing and corporate communication teams
  • Continuously monitor emerging trends, technologies, and market opportunities to bring cutting-edge solutions to C&A
  • Lead pilot projects for innovative materials and circular product systems, scaling successful initiatives company-wide

WHAT YOU BRING

  • 7+ years of experience in sustainability roles, with expertise in sustainable materials, circular product development, and supply chain management
  • Excellent understanding of the apparel supply chain
  • Strong understanding of recyclable materials, traceability systems, and certifications such as Cradle to Cradle and Textile Exchange standards
  • Proven ability to facilitate cross-functional teams and deliver measurable, data-driven sustainability outcomes
  • Skilled in analysing data and translating insights into actionable strategies to achieve KPIs
  • Excellent project management, with experience engaging stakeholders at all levels
  • Ability to influence and motivate people to change practices through strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Deep personal interest in, and passion for, sustainability
