RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT - FROM IDEA TO PROTOTYPE For our upcoming project at the INP in Greifswald, founded by the German Research Foundation, we are looking for a DOCTORAL RESEARCHER (F/M/D) Modelling and data-driven diagnostics of non-thermal plasmas * Fixed term contract initially limited for 3 years * Part-time appointment (30 hours/week) * Target salary according to TV-L in wage group E 13 (Gross salary range depending on professional experience, see Renumeration table 2023) ABOUT INP Our institute ranks among the largest and most modern institutions in the field of low-temperature plasmas worldwide. Develop an approach to data-driven diagnostics integrating measurement and simulation data in a common database Use and extend reaction kinetic models and spatially resolved fluid simulations for discharge characterisation, especially in comparison with experimental data Direct linking of measured and simulation data by means of a common database with uniform data and metadata formats for all measured and calculated discharge parameters Apply and develop methods for verification of simulation codes and validation of models and experimental data to ensure the reliability of the database Present your work on national and international conferences and write peer-reviewed publications for scientific journals Successful completion of higher education studies (Master of Science degree, Diploma or equivalent) preferably in physics, mathematics, chemistry, electrical engineering or related fields Experiences in the scientific modelling and data analysis, preferably in the field of non-thermal plasmas Profound knowledge of at least one programming language, e.g., Python, C/C++, or Fortran Working experience with databases and managing research data would be highly beneficial High degree of commitment, reliability, self-reliant working, and problem-solving competence Excellent communication skills in English (spoken and written) Compensation according to collective salary agreement of Länder (TV-L) including employer contributions to medical and dental insurance, maternity leave and retirement benefits Creative working environment State-of-the-art technical facilities Supervision of the doctoral thesis by a doctoral committee In-house training (e.g. project management, scientific writing, writing project proposals) Networking opportunities at national and international conferences and in cooperation with national and international industry partners Opportunities for external training In-house German course free of charge Internal laboratory tours (“What do the colleagues do?”) Possibility of designing and implementing own project ideas Flexible working hours and home-office offers Family Office 30 vacation days per year (plus: December 24 and 31) Online Sports courses (\\"Moving break\\") Staff kitchen
