PostDoc (m/f/d) in the field of Soft Matter Physics

Salary scale: 13 TV-L

Date commencing: 01.11.2024

Fixed term: 12 months

Contract status: 100 %

The Chair of Soft Matter Physics wants to conduct exploratory research in the field of recycling of plastic utilizing ultrasound and cavitation bubbles. The goal is to obtain a good understanding on the fluid mechanics involved in ultrasound assisted depolymerization. The research will be conducted in collaboration with the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics of Complex Technical Systems.

Job description:

• Develop an experimental setup to study the ultrasound assisted depolymerization of various plastic fibers
• Introduction of stable gas bubbles into the experimental cell and study their interaction with the plastic particles
• Addressing the complex optimization problem from an understanding of the key factors of the process

Requirements profile:

• Diploma or Master‘s degree and PhD in Chemistry (preferred), Physics or engineering
• Research experience in acoustics, fluid mechanics, and cavitation
• High-speed imaging
• Good English language skills (B2 level)
