In particular, this position could focus on perceptions and consequences of expert trespassing (i.e., when researchers comment on issues beyond their area of expertise) or related topics.

Your profile:

Some of the key foci of this lab include the biases that are part of psychological research process, with a particular focus on the so-called researcher degrees of freedom; the replicability and reliability of findings of psychological research, especially in meta-analyses; researcher profiles and the factors that affect researcher careers in psychology. The successful candidate use the data available at ZPID to investigate one of these or related topics.

Your profile:

  • MSc in psychology, ideally with focus on social psychology
  • Experience in quantitative research and data analysis; experience with meta-analysis is a plus
  • Strong interest in psychological methods and statistics

Big Data in Psychology

This position will be part of the Big Data Lab at ZPID. We study human behavior across massive and complex datasets, including social media, large-scale experiments, and high-resolution dynamic recordings (e.g., neuroimaging). For this position, research topics could focus on advancing deep neural networks for studying psychological phenomena (e.g., morality, hate-speech, etc.) particularly in multi-lingual, multi-modal datasets; apply pattern recognition techniques to predict real-world behaviors; or related areas combining Big Data with social and moral psychology.

Your profile:

  • MSc in psychology, computational social science, or computer science
  • Experience in Python, R, or MATLAB; statistical or spatio-temporal modelling; knowledge of Linux/bash is a plus
  • Strong interest in social/moral psychology, natural language processing, computer vision, and deep learning
