In the Department of Mathematics, in the ‘Poisson Geometry’ research group led by Dr Ioan Marcut, two PhD positions (f/m/x) are available within the research area ‘Linearization and Deformations of Poisson Structures’.

The positions are available from 01.10.2024 on a parttime basis (26,29 hours per week). The positions are to be filled for a fixed term until 30.09.2028. If the applicant meets the relevant wage requirements and personal qualifications, the salary will be based on remuneration group 13 TV-L of the pay scale for the German public sector.

Collaboration on research projects in the field of ‘Linearization and deformations of Poisson structures’. Dissertation topics may arise from the research results.

Teaching obligation to the extent of 2.6 hours per week during the semesters (2.6 SWS)

Support in the organization of research seminars, workshops and conferences

YOUR PROFILE

Master‘s degree in a mathematics programme completed by the start of employment

In-depth knowledge of differential geometry, proven e.g. by a Master‘s thesis in a subfield of differential geometry

Knowledge of Poisson geometry, Lie theory, symplectic geometry, theory of PDEs and functional analysis is also highly desirable

Openness and enthusiasm to learn new mathematics

Knowledge of German or willingness to learn German is required
