Lab Technician and/or Mechatronics Engineer for Battery Cell Prototyping (f/m/x)

We are looking for a Laboratory Technician or Mechatronics engineer to build and maintain hardware that actually matters. Together with a crack team of battery engineers and scientists, you will be responsible for designing, altering, and maintaining our electrochemical equipment and for building the battery cells we need for research and prototyping. TASKS

We will entrust you with

• Test Bench Construction & Sensor Integration: Conceptualize and hands-on assemble new measurement setups, including the seamless integration of relevant sensor technology.
• Maintenance & Lab Organization: Take full ownership of the regular maintenance, calibration, and upkeep of laboratory systems (e.g., vacuum pumps, glovebox systems), as well as managing tools and consumables.
• Cell Manufacturing & Prototyping: Independently and precisely manufacture battery cells inside a glovebox under an inert gas atmosphere, with a particular focus on producing small series for customer projects.
• Testing & Monitoring: Install cells, initiate test protocols, and continuously monitor and document ongoing measurements.

REQUIREMENTS

What we expect of you

We are looking for personality and drive over a specific tenure.

• Completed technical vocational training, e.g. as a Physics Laboratory Technician (Physik-laborant), Mechatronics Engineer (Mechatroniker), Electronics Technician, Microtechnologist, or a comparable qualification.
• A structured, highly reliable, and solution-oriented working style with a deep sense of personal responsibility for your designated tasks.
• You’re a quick learner when adapting to new technical topics and methods, with the ability to independently execute projects and drive lab innovations. You are curious about how to solve the next set of problems with the resources at hand.
• Excellent fine motor skills and physical stamina required for delicate, high-precision work inside a glovebox to ensure consistent manufacturing quality.
• Sufficient fluency in English to communicate with your international colleagues and our suppliers. German is optional.

These optional qualifications are not necessary, but highly relevant to our work.

• Proven experience reading circuit diagrams, creating CAD models, assembling cables, and performing precision soldering.
• First practical experience handling inert gas gloveboxes or assembling electrochemical cells.
• Prior experience working with battery testing systems or software environments like Python.
• Previous experience in prototyping, quality assurance, and working within an agile, dynamic startup environment.
