General Counsel (m/f/d)

Deep Blue Recruitment is collecting expressions of interest for two upcoming General Counsel searches with mid-sized technology companies headquartered in Berlin.

Both opportunities offer the chance to join the executive team and lead the legal function of an international technology business during a period of growth and transformation.

The roles could suit an established General Counsel, a Head of Legal, or a senior in-house lawyer with leadership experience who is ready to step into their first General Counsel position.

TASKS

While the precise scope will vary between the opportunities, responsibilities are expected to include:

• Acting as a trusted adviser to the CEO, executive team, and Board on legal, commercial, and strategic matters
• Supporting strategic corporate transactions, including acquisitions, investments, partnerships, and other transformational projects
• Leading commercial growth through the negotiation and management of key customer, supplier, and strategic partnership agreements
• Providing practical guidance on risk, governance, and responsible AI adoption while supporting innovation and growth
• Supporting strategic projects, new business initiatives, and international expansion activities
• Developing practical legal processes and frameworks that enable the business to operate efficiently
• Leading, developing, and mentoring an established a mid-sized legal function
• Managing external counsel and specialist advisers across key jurisdictions and projects

REQUIREMENTS

While requirements may vary between the opportunities, we are particularly interested in speaking with lawyers who can demonstrate:

• Significant post-qualification experience gained in-house, private practice, or a combination of both, ideally supporting technology, digital, or other fast-growing businesses
• Strong commercial judgement and experience negotiating complex customer, supplier, and strategic partnership agreements
• Proven leadership capability, including experience managing, mentoring, and developing legal professionals and leading through influence across an organisation
• Experience partnering with executive leadership teams and providing practical, business-focused advice on strategic and operational matters
• Exposure to corporate transactions, fundraising, investments, M&A, or other transformational projects
• German-qualified lawyer (Volljurist/Volljuristin)
