Über den Job:

Arda Atomics is looking for a new colleague (m/f/d) to join our multidisciplinary, international team. In this role, you will support the research and development of the next generation of atomic gyroscopes — from concept and simulation through to lab experimentation and system optimization.

TASKS

  • Conceive, design, and set up complex atomic gyroscope experiments at both system and sub-system level
  • Operate and automate lab experiments using Python
  • Develop and refine system models for atomic gyroscopes, and optimize performance based on simulations and experimental data
  • Take ownership of cross-domain interfaces (electro-optical, thermo-mechanical, software)
  • Contribute to hardware development of the physics module, including electro-optical systems for light generation, control, and detection
  • Contribute to system engineering efforts and coordinate internal development of next-generation sub-systems
  • Contribute to Arda Atomics' intellectual property portfolio

REQUIREMENTS

Required:

  • PhD or equivalent experience in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline
  • Working experience in an optical laboratory environment
  • Experience in atomic physics, NMR physics, optical magnetometry, quantum sensor development, or related areas
  • General programming skills and experience in Python and willingness to grow in this area
  • Experience with quantum mechanical simulations
  • Strong spoken and written English skills
  • Ability to work independently within an agile, collaborative team

Beneficial:

  • Experience in electrical engineering
  • Experience in laser engineering and laser locking techniques
  • Familiarity with COMSOL Multiphysics simulations
  • Experience with FPGA development and signal processing
  • Experience with C/C++ or other compiled programming language
  • Experience with designing of magnetic field control systems
  • Experience in electronics hardware design, and integration

BENEFITS

Arda Atomics is a Stuttgart based quantum sensing company. Launched in January 2026 based on years of research as an independent startup.

We use our technical expertise, operational momentum, and focus on delivering novel sensing technology, in particular NMR gyroscopes for defence, aerospace, and security applications where current systems fail.

Bridging the gap between science and product with advanced systems engineering, for technology transfer from the lab to real-world applications.

  • Work at the forefront of quantum sensing technology
  • Join a diverse, multidisciplinary, and international team
  • Arda Atomics is backed by the TRUMPF corporation, a global leader in industrial laser technology
  • Be part of a small team where you will get all the necessary insight and empowerment to take ownership of your work to create real impact
  • Flexible working arrangements, including home office options and various employee benefits (e.g. Wellhub, gift cards, subsidy for Deutschlandticket)
  • Work at the newly created “Campus Sternhöhe”, a vibrant mix of startups and corporates at our cozy office and state-of-the-art lab space
