‘Forschungsgesellschaft für Arbeitsphysiologie und Arbeitsschutz e.V. Dortmund’ (legal entity name) is a research institution institutionally funded by the German Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs and the State of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is the sponsor of ’Leibniz Research Centre for Working Environment and Human Factors at TU Dortmund’ (IfADo). IfADo explores the risks and potentials of modern work in interdisciplinary approaches. We combine the disciplines of Ergonomics, Immunology, Toxicology, Psychology and Neurosciences.
The Department of Ergonomics has a vacancy for
a PhD Student (m/f/d)
to be filled as soon as possible. This is a part-time position (75%), initially limited to 3 years. The qualification goal is a doctorate. If a diploma or master's degree is not yet available, temporary employment as a research assistant may be considered.
The tasks include scientific work in a project that will explore the neurocognitive basis of the role of vision in stable gait, and the effect of walking on vision. This will involve collecting and integrating neurocognitive measurements in gait environments of varying complexity (including virtual) using mobile EEG together with motion data (motion tracking).
Your Qualifications:
Graduate/Master's degree in psychology, neuroscience, sports science, or a related field
Good technical understanding of complex experimental setups
Strong interest in basic and applied neuroscience research issues
Very good knowledge of the English language
Very good methodological skills
Experience in acquisition and analysis of EEG data (not mandatory)
